George Santos leaves court, rules out resignation and says he will go to Washington to vote on the project

US Representative George Santos left the New York court on Wednesday afternoon. In an interview with reporters, he stated that he will not resign from his mandate in the House of Representatives and that he will run for re-election. He also said he will travel to Washington tomorrow to participate in the vote on a law on border control.

“I have to go back and vote,” he said. “Tomorrow we have one of the most important votes in this Congress, which is the border project, and I am really looking forward to being there to vote on it.”

The New York representative also said he still plans to run for re-election after pleading not guilty to 13 federal charges that include wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds and making false statements to the House.

The GOP’s border bill, which is dead by the time it reaches the Senate, would restart border wall construction, increase funding for border agents and upgrade border technology, reinstate the “stay in Mexico” policy, put new restrictions on asylum seekers and increasing requirements for E-verify.
