Georgia: Former President Saakashvili transferred to intensive care after fainting

Doctors at the prison hospital where former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is being held have taken him to the intensive care unit after he fainted, his lawyer Nika Gvaramia said.

“At the moment he is in the intensive care unit. All the doctors are there and they are doing their best. Apart from the words of gratitude, I can not say anything else. The doctors have brought the man back from the bad condition he was in,” Gvaramia said after visited him in the prison hospital.

On Thursday night during a meeting with his lawyers, Saakashvili fell down and lost consciousness. A prison hospital doctor later told reporters that the former president’s health condition had stabilized and all vital signs were now at normal levels.
