Vice President Geraldo Alckmin speaks this Tuesday morning (Brasília time) at the plenary of world leaders at the 29th United Nations Conference on Climate Change.
The expectation is that Alckmin, who is also Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), will speak about Brazil’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 59% to 67% by 2035.
The proposal was presented by the Brazilian government last week and aims to reach between 850 million and 1.05 billion tons of CO₂ equivalent by 2035.
Before the speech, the vice president met with the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres.
