German politician: Germany should get an ‘Iron Dome’ like Israel

Just as Israel manages to effectively protect its citizens from Hamas missile terrorism with Iron Dome, Germany also needs an effective addition to the existing Patriot system as soon as possible. At least this is what the head of the CSU regional group Alexander Dobrid claims in BILD.

“Putin’s brutal rocket fire in Ukraine shows that Germany needs an Iron Dome based on the Israeli model as soon as possible, which offers maximum protection from air attacks. The answer to Putin’s Iron Curtain must be an Iron Dome with a modern grid missile defense for our country,” he said.

“Iron Dome” is a missile defense system that has become particularly well known through its application in Israel. The radar detects short-range missiles as soon as they are launched, so that missile defenses can intercept them with extreme precision in the sky.

Germany is in the potential target area of Russian missile systems – so far there is no protective shield against such an attack, reports Bild. Therefore, the federal government is considering creating such protection. The Arrow 3 system from Israel could be used.

The Arrow 3 is a $1 million hypersonic missile system funded, developed and produced by Israel and the United States. According to the manufacturer, it can intercept a nuclear missile up to 2000 kilometers away – even outside the atmosphere in space.
