Germany: A tornado hit Kiel hard – 3 seriously injured

Extreme weather conditions continue in central Europe with Germany continuing to count wounds. This time a big one tornado hit Kiel, a city on the Baltic coast in Germany, leaving behind devastation and at least 7 injured. Local media however comment that these the weather is extremely unusual for the area. Demonstrating that the imprint of climate change is already here.

Seven people were injured when the tornado hit Kiel on Wednesday night, three of them seriously, according to the local newspaper Kieler Nachrichten. The ominous wind formation also caused great material damage, roofs of houses were torn down and boats were found ashore. Police and firefighters have reportedly deployed “large-scale” operations to assist in rescue and clean-up efforts.

Shocked citizens posted videos of the tornado which in the form of a tornado formed over the sea near the port of the city.

THE Germany still struggles to recover from extreme weather with deaths and devastation from recent summer floods. Another tornado hit Grosshead in August, damaging more than 50 homes.

The tornado struck just one month after the neighboring states of North Rhine-Westphalia were hit by floods that claimed the lives of about 200 people. German prosecutors have accused the local government of failing to warn state residents of the impending disaster.
