German security institutions are working with their international partners on the global cyber disruption that has affected air travel, banks and a host of other companies and institutes on Friday (19), German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said.
“There is currently nothing to say about this from my side,” Scholz said during a visit to Belgrade, expressing calm as details still emerge.
One of Europe’s largest healthcare facilities, located in Germany, has been implicated in the cyber disruption.
The German University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) has canceled all elective procedures on Friday, according to a statement on its website.
Both sites in the northern German cities of Kiel and Lübeck were affected. Outpatient clinics are also closed.
“Patient care at UKSH is guaranteed, as is emergency care,” the statement added.
Berlin airport said it was experiencing check-in delays due to a “technical fault”. A total of 4,386 flights are scheduled to take place throughout the day, carrying up to 791,000 passengers. So far, 92 flights have been cancelled.
