Germany celebrates the fall of Assad, but … freezes asylum for Syrians

A few hours after celebrations in Germany for the fall of Bashar al-Assad in Syria by jihadists, Berlin tried to keep its distance from the Syrians, since the scenarios for the next day are not good. Several analysts fear a new migration, with some describing Syria as the “new Afghanistan”. The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) therefore decided to freeze the granting of asylum to Syrian refugees, in order to prevent any developments. Also, the right-wing and far-right parties call for the deportation of Syrians and the strengthening of border control, but at the same time they welcome the jihadists who until now have been considered a threat to Europe.
