Germany: Children and adolescents should be vaccinated as a matter of priority

“Children and adolescents should be vaccinated as a matter of priority as soon as they are approved. We adults owe this to the younger generation. Children and adolescents were deprived a lot during the coronavirus pandemic. “The federal states must now prepare everything quickly to enable three million children and adolescents aged 12 to 15 to be vaccinated,” the Social Democrat politician told German News Agency (dpa).

Parents and professionals who come into contact with children should also be able to get vaccinated against Covid-19, as they will protect children “like a cocoon”. “Until then, it must also be ensured that families can go on holiday again in the summer to recharge their batteries, for example through the ability of diagnostic tests,” added the Minister of Family Affairs.

“In order to vaccinate these groups as soon as possible, it is important to exhaust all existing possibilities. These include vaccination centers, clinics, but also on-the-spot vaccinations in schools, family centers and youth centers. There should also be mobile vaccination groups, especially in socially disadvantaged areas. “It would also be appropriate to vaccinate in other places, such as mosques,” Gifai said.

“In addition, parents who are skeptical should be informed with information material, in order to persuade them to vaccinate themselves and to vaccinate their children as soon as possible,” said the Minister of Family Affairs.
