Foreign Minister Johann Vandeful described yesterday’s Israeli attack on Hamas targets in Qatar, but avoided taking a stand on the European Commission’s announcement of new sanctions against Israel. “The attack was unacceptable, as it violated Qatar’s territorial sovereignty and jeopardized all our efforts to ensure the release of hostages,” Mr Vandeful said, referring to “a critical role of Qatar in the efforts to cease fire and release”. “I therefore ask that it is urgently done to ensure that the fire will eventually be achieved and that the hostages will be able to return to their families,” the minister added.
