Former government spokesman Stephen Seibert will be Germany’s new ambassador to Israel, according to the Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
According to the newspaper, Chancellor Olaf Soltz had promised his predecessor Angela Merkel that the 11-year-old representative and one of her closest associates would take on an important ambassadorial post, although he was not a career diplomat. Initially, the information wanted him to be appointed German ambassador to Madrid, where the head of the central department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Gosset, will eventually go.
According to the newspaper, the representative of the Liberals (FDP) Alexander Lambsdorf was claiming the embassy in Washington, where it was decided to extend the term of Emily Humber.
