Germany has not reached an agreement with Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko on resolving the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border, a government source told Reuters on Thursday, following reports of an agreement between the two countries.
“The situation at the border is a European problem in which Germany is not acting alone,” the source added.
A Lukashenko spokeswoman said on Thursday that German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in a telephone conversation with Lukashenko, had agreed to discuss Belarus’ proposal with the European Union.
THE proposal speaks of the return of 5,000 migrants to their home countries, with the EU welcoming 2,000 migrants.
