Germany “is now better prepared” for the disruption in natural gas deliveries

Germany’s gas network regulator announced tonight that the country is now better prepared on the interruption of supplies from Russia, but urged citizens and companies to limit consumption, post Gazprom’s announcement that the Nord Stream 1 pipeline will remain closed for the time being.

“On the occasion of Russia’s decision not currently allow gas flow via Nord Stream 1, the liquefied natural gas LNG terminals, the related storage levels and the significant savings become even more importantKlaus Müller, the president of the Bundesnetzagentur, said on Twitter.

It is good that Germany is now better prepared, but now it is up to each and every one of us“, he added.

The Nord Stream 1 pipeline, which crosses the Baltic Sea and supplies Germany and other countries, was due to reopen tomorrow Saturday (at 04.00 Greek time) after a three-day shutdown for maintenance. THE Gazprom however, which has a monopoly on pipeline gas exports from Russia, earlier said it could not safely resume deliveries until an engine oil leak detected in a turbine was repaired. He did not give a timeline for when the repair could be completed.

This is part of Russia’s psychological warfare against usMichael Roth, the head of the German parliament’s foreign affairs committee, tweeted.

The storage tanks natural gas in Germany they are 85% full. Berlin estimates that the target of being 95% full by November 1 will be difficult to achieve unless companies and households cut fuel consumption.

The EU as a whole has already exceeded the target of filling the reservoirs by 80% by October 1st.
