After the defeat in Saarland (absolute majority for the SPD), the CDU can now hope for electoral success in the federal Schleswig-Holstein, according to Bild.
In the second local election of the year, Prime Minister Daniel Ginder (CDU) is considered the unwavering favorite. In the latest poll (ZDF on Thursday), the CDU is well ahead of the SPD and the Greens (18% each) with 38%.
The FDP (8%) and the AfD (6%) are also likely to be represented in the state parliament. The Left Party is not considered to have a chance.
A special case in the north is the Südschleswigsche Wählerverband (6%). For the Danish minority party, the 5% limit does not apply.
Prime Minister Ginder is so popular that there must be a new government in Kiel. If the polls are correct, the CDU no longer needs the Greens and the FDP for the majority, but only one partner.
This means that CDU leader Friedrich Mertz is likely to go to the most important local elections of the year next Sunday in North Rhine-Westphalia with the “air” of victory from today’s match.
There, the CDU and the SPD are almost tied and the red-green coalition has a chance to replace the black-and-yellow coalition.
