The newly elected Chancellor Friedrich Mertz will have a phone call with US President Donald Trump tomorrow, Thursday. As he said late last night in an interview with the second channel of German public television ZDF, the two leaders will probably meet on the sidelines of the NATO meeting (June 24-26) in The Hague. Mr Mertz, however, rejected Washington’s criticism of classifying the Alternative for Germany (AfD) as “as verified far -right organization” by the Federal Protection Service of the Constitution. Referring to the immigration policy he intends to pursue, the Chancellor said the matter would be raised during his meetings in Paris today with President Emmanuel Macron and then to Poland with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
