The Nord Stream 1 natural gas pipeline connecting Russia to Germany will resume operations at around 30% capacity, the head of the German Energy Authority Klaus Mueller said.
In particular, as Cl. Muller said, Russia’s Gazprom has scheduled natural gas flows at around 530 gigawatts per hour per day.
“This amounts to around 30%. It is better than nothing, but of course not what has been agreed,” Müller told ZDF broadcaster.
In any case, however, he pointed out that the volumes of flows may change, either increased or decreased further.
“If we got 30% of the capacity, that would help with the savings, but … we’ll have to wait and see what actually gets delivered first,” he said.
Putin: There is a risk that the Nord Stream 1 turbine will not work
It is recalled that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin had initially stated that the Nord Stream 1 pipeline would operate again, but with reduced flows, but then left hints citing the condition of the turbine.
“It remains to be seen in what condition the Nord Stream 1 equipment will return from the maintenance process,” the Russian president said characteristically, adding that “there is a risk that the equipment will not work after its return from Canada and Nord Stream will stop.”
Putin also argued that Canada’s decision to delay the return of the Nord Stream turbine is not a political decision and is not related to the war in Ukraine.
“There are no political issues and not even our ‘special operation in Donbass’ is responsible for this decision. The real motivations are related to Canada’s effort to enter the European market,” Putin said at the forum “Strong Ideas for a New time”.
“One piece of equipment needs repair which is scheduled. It is not granted by Canada because they have sanctions against Gazprom, even though it is a Siemens plant. I will tell you why Canada did it. Because it produces oil and natural gas itself and plans to enter the European market,” he noted.
