Germany is currently closing a coronation vaccination year. The first vaccine was given on the second day of Christmas 2020 to then-Edith Kwitsala, 101, in the East German city of Halberstadt. According to the Robert Koch State Epidemiological Institute, 146.6 million vaccinations have been given in the meantime. 73.8% of the population has been vaccinated with the first dose, and 70.8% with the second dose. 35.9% have also received the booster dose (29.9 million).

The percentage of the unvaccinated amounts to 26.2% or 21.7 million. The goal of the new government was to provide 30 million installments by mid-November by the end of the year. That goal is expected to be met on Monday, as there are still 50,000 vaccinations left. Vaccinations mainly concern the booster dose.

The unvaccinated insist

A new goal of the new German government was to increase the percentage of those vaccinated with the first dose to 80% by January 7, the day of the next conference of Chancellor Olaf Solz’s vaccination campaign with the prime ministers of the 16 German states.

To achieve this, 5.3 million unvaccinated people would have to be vaccinated in the next two weeks. The fact is that so far appeals to this group of people do not find the expected response. A new date for reaching the target of 80% vaccinated with the first dose is the end of January, a government spokesman told Bild on Sunday.

Previously, in mid-January, the issue of compulsory vaccination for all will be discussed in parliament. Compulsory vaccination has already been introduced for staff in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and nursing homes. From March 16, employees must have either a vaccination certificate or a Covid-19 recovery certificate.
