Germany: PMI preliminary manufacturing rises to 49 points in June, as expected

  • Germany’s manufacturing PMI rose to 49 in June compared to 49 forecast.
  • The PMI of services for the German economy improved 49.4 in June compared to the estimate of 47.5.
  • The EUR/USD keeps red about 1,1500 after the Mixed German PMIs.

The contraction of the manufacturing and services sectors of Germany was slowed in June, according to the preliminary business activity report published by the HCOB survey on Monday.

The HCob manufacturing PMI in the main eurozone economy improved 49 this month, compared to May 48.3, aligning with the expected reading of 49. The index reached a maximum of 34 months.

Meanwhile, the PMI Services jumped at 49.4 in June from 47.1 in May. The market forecast was 47.5 in the reported period. The measure reached a peak of three months.

The HCOB preliminary production compound index in 50.4 in June compared to 48.5 in May and 49 expected. The indicator was at its highest level in three months.

Implications for FX

The EUR/USD maintains the tone offered intact after the mixed German data, lowering 0.18% in the day to 1,1500 at the time of writing.
