Germany: Schieble cuts απο 70.58 in coronary aid

Members of the Federal Parliament will receive less money from this July Germany, due to the coronavirus crisis. This is clear from a letter from the President of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Schäuble.

So, The taxable parliamentary allowance is reduced this year by 70.58 euros and now amounts to 10,012.89 euros.

However, not only the compensation of the deputies is reduced, but they are no longer allowed to vote for its amount themselves. This was decided a few years ago, when it was decided to link the parliamentary allowance with the real course of salaries in the country, because its regular increases had repeatedly provoked criticism.

According to that decision and as transferred by APE-MPE, the parliamentary allowance should be adjusted annually to the so-called evolution of nominal salaries. These wages were reduced last year due to the coronavirus crisis.

Specifically, the so-called nominal wage index decreased by 0.7%, so the parliamentary allowances are reduced accordingly this year.

In fact, according to the statistics of the Federal Parliament, this is the first reduction of parliamentary allowance in its history. In contrast, there have been more frequent zero increases in the past.
