It started at Germany the 4th wave of pandemics according to the head of the Robert Koch Institute, Lothar Wheeler. The daily Bild reports that Chancellor Helge Brown had a meeting with the heads of the state prime ministers’ offices late yesterday afternoon, in preparation for Chancellor Angela Merkel’s corresponding consultations with the 16 state prime ministers.
“The fourth wave of the pandemic has already begun,” he said, noting that immediate action must be taken in the face of autumn and winter.
The conference was originally scheduled for late August, but due to the threatening, steady increase in new cases coronavirus accelerated and will take place on August 10, says the correspondent of RES in Germany.
Germany: Demand review of protection measures
According to the German newspaper, Mr. Wheeler presented a confidential document of the Institute according to which the fourth wave of the pandemic has already begun, while the case rate per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days should remain the main criterion for taking measures.
The fact that in many areas the increase of cases is not accompanied by an increase in hospital admissions, but several state prime ministers – including Markus Zender of Bavaria – are calling for a review of the immediate protection system if the index exceeds 50.
However, as explained in the document of the Robert Koch Institute, this indicator should remain in force and other parameters may be added. Helge Brown reportedly stressed that a possible change in this system would be tantamount to a change of direction in dealing with the pandemic.
