Peter Altmaier, Germany’s economy minister, has warned that his country could see 20,000 new daily COVID-19 cases per day before the end of this week. The senior official warned that infections in Germany are growing exponentially. The news suggests that the chancellor Angela Merkel is considering a “light lockdown”.

In the neighbor France, authorities are considering the possibility of extending the curfew hours in several cities, including the capital, Paris. The nation announced 50,000 new cases daily during the weekend.
