Economic expectations in Germany rose for the second month in a row in February as financial market experts expected the easing of pandemic-related restrictions and an economic recovery in the first half of 2022, the ZEW economic research institute said.
The economic expectations index increased to 54.3 points in February from 51.7 points in January, lower than the estimates for 56 points.
“The economic outlook for Germany continues to improve in February, despite growing economic and political uncertainties,” said Achim Wambach, president of ZEW.
Views on the current economic situation in Germany also improved, with the index rising to -8.1 points from -10.2 points in January, the ZEW institute said.
Economists expected the index to reach -10.8 points.
