“Get me out of here and I will do anything for you”: This was the rescue of children from the rubble in Turkey and Syria

Three days after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, leaving more than 11,000 dead in its wake (a figure that could increase), thousands of rescuers persist in their work, managing to rescue several children from the rubble, whose stories, looks and smiles move thousands of people around the world, as they represent hope amidst tragedy.

One of the stories that has shocked the world the most is that of two brothers who were trapped in the remains of their home in Syria. The little ones were rescued 36 hours after the earthquake struck the country, a time when the oldest of them (eight years old) protected the youngest with her own arm.

When the rescuers arrived at the scene, the girl told them that she would do anything for them if they got them out of there while she covered her brother with her own arm and patted his head trying to reassure him.

Get me out of here, I’ll do anything for you. I will be your slave.

The words of the minor shook the hearts of the rescuers, as well as that of everyone who knows her story. According to official sources, the minors and their parents were asleep when the earthquake hit their city and, fortunately, they were all rescued alive, they have been reported as stable and are already in a shelter.

Like those brothers, other minors have been rescued from the rubble and dust, bringing joy and hope to the rescue forces, but especially to their families, who fight against all odds to be reunited with them.

Another of the stories that has brought light among so much darkness was the one starring a father and his little daughter. The father stayed in the building and let the minor know that he was there, that she would soon be safe. Fortunately, the girl was found alive and rescuers were surprised to see her in good health after spending so much time underground, completely covered in dust.

Dad is here, don’t be afraid. Dad is here, don’t be afraid.

The rescues of minors have been classified as true miracles, especially that of a newborn baby who was found hypothermic and still tied to her mother’s umbilical cord. Unfortunately, the baby’s mother, father and siblings were crushed to death by debris.

So far, most of the survivors have been minors, because, according to experts, their size and complexion allow them to last longer under the rubble, since they require less oxygen to survive.

Each one of these rescues fuels the hope of all the mourners, especially parents who will not rest until they find their greatest treasure: their children.
