Ghostbusters Actor Rick Moranis Punched in Unprovoked Attack

The 67-year-old actor was punched straight in the head while he was walking just outside Central Park West near 70th Street at 7:30 in the morning.

The street attack was also caught on the camera. In the footage, an unidentified assailant can be seen striking Moranis in the head with his closed fist, making him tumble down to the ground when he was walking near the apartment building he was staying in.

The Canadian musician later took himself to the hospital for an evaluation where he delineated pain in his head, hip, and back. As per the statement of one Moranis’ representatives, “He is fine but grateful for everyone’s thoughts and well wishes.”

The incident has been reported to the New York Police Department, who referred it as “random” and “unprovoked.” The Police are yet to detain the suspected person and have asked for the public’s aid in identifying the suspect. A picture of the suspect has also been released in which he can be seen entering the subway station.

Moreover, many of Rick Moranis’ compeers have shown their outrage on social media. The Captain America star, Chris Evans, took to his Twitter account to give his support to Moranis. He wrote, “My blood is boiling. Find this man. You don’t touch Rick Moranis.” The American film director Judd Apatow also joined in saying, “This is the worst news of the last two days … This is why Rick Moranis avoided our country for decades. I guess he was right all along. We don’t deserve him.”
