A giant panda named Ershun gave birth to twin cubs in China , reports state media. The birth of the two small mammals took place in late July at a zoo in Chongqing County, in the southwest of the country.
According to the Xinhua news agency, the zoo said Monday that the baby pandas are in “good condition” at the moment.
The twins are the result of a natural mating between Ershun and a male panda at the China Research and Conservation Center for the Giant Panda in neighboring Sichuan province in March.
Also according to the zoo, cubs weighed 132 grams and 91 grams when they were born on July 22. Now, they are 420 grams and 257 grams, respectively.
This was the giant panda’s second delivery of twins.
Born in August 2007, Ershun lived at Toronto Zoo and Calgary Zoo in Canada between March 2013 and November 2020.
