The Gibraltar government plans to integrate the RSK blockchain into the government’s eGov platform to improve the quality of services provided.
According to the statement, the Gibraltar government is partnering with the Latin American cryptocurrency exchange Bitso and blockchain developer RSK IOBVlabs to expand the functionality of the government’s eGov platform and improve the quality of services provided. Gibraltar Minister of Digital and Financial Services Albert Isola said:
“Gibraltar has successfully positioned itself as a jurisdiction for innovative companies developing and offering blockchain solutions. Incorporating technology into our processes will improve how our community interacts with government. ”
At the initial stage, the project is aimed at ensuring that users can safely store personal data and documents issued by the state. According to Isola, the government has already started the digitization process through the implementation of the eGov system earlier this year. The minister is confident that the RSK blockchain will become a solid foundation for the formation of the structure of electronic services.
As Isola revealed in a recent interview, the government is working to make Gibraltar a favorable jurisdiction for crypto startups. He noted that the country has no need for digital currencies. The main reason the government is introducing digital currencies is to foster innovation.
