The singer Gilberto Gil 82, said on Tuesday (6) that will miss the microphone after finishing the last tour of his career his, in November 2025, after performing nine shows in Brazil.
“I think I’ll miss having a microphone, it’s the element that characterizes being on stage. I started out in a time when all sound was amplified, I didn’t live in a time when people didn’t have sound amplification. So I’ll miss that,” the artist said at a press conference in São Paulo.
The singer even imitated the sound of some musical instruments and concluded that “all of this will be missed. But missing someone is good.”
Gil announced the “Tempo Rei” tour — with this title in homage to one of his songs — on Tuesday afternoon, but said that the subject had already been thought about and discussed with his family.
“I have been thinking about freeing up my time for a long time. And the maturity needed to decide whether this whole cycle would come to an end was a normal decision, as time itself passed, which convinced us that the time had to come and say: ‘Enough of all this running around’”, explains the artist.
“There were several elements that I considered to arrive at the decision to carry out a final tour . There was reflection on this market and also on the physical demands required for these big shows. I want to continue making music in another rhythm but first, we will have this beautiful celebration with the public and family. Transform the old ways of living”, he concluded.
