The assessment that it is “quite reasonable the possibility” of upgrading the rating of the Greek economy by the end of April 2022, expressed a senior S&P analyst speaking to Reuters.
In particular, in his statements to the agency, the chief analyst of S&P Frank Gill stated that Greece and Italy still have “protective reserves” against the rising cost of borrowing, and that there is a reasonable possibility that Greece’s credit rating will soon be upgraded. .
Specifically for Greece, Mr. Gill said that the country, which has a strong cash position and has extended its debt profile in recent years, has “significant security reserves” as the cost of public borrowing increases.
It is noted that S&P evaluates Greece with “BB” and stable prospects from April 2021, two categories below the investment level, however the positive outlook given by the American house means that further upgrade is possible within the year.
In this context, Frank Gill told Reuters that he considers “that there is definitely a very reasonable possibility of upgrading by the end of April 2022”.
