ESPM International Relations professor Leonardo Trevisan stated, in an interview with CNN this Sunday (25), that Giorgia Meloni “moderated his speech” on the eve of Italy electing a new prime minister.
According to the expert, the favorite candidate in this Sunday’s elections “chose more ‘softer’ words” to communicate with the electorate. “Meloni is anyone’s guess. People don’t know what she intends to do.”
“The big question is whether it will have credibility with the European Central Bank (ECB) to carry out the reforms that Italy needs.”
Faced with fears of an economic recession, the political leader “spoke essentially to Italian workers in small businesses, those hardest hit by the energy crisis,” Trevisan added.
The professor also pointed out that the praise made by Meloni to Benito Mussolini – former Italian dictator – “worries Europe”.
