Girl warns coach about a malignant mole in the middle of a hockey game

When you go to a stadium to enjoy a game, you focus mainly on the game and the players. However, there are always things that can distract you and steal your attention.

There are people who are distracted when the one who sells drinks and snacks passes by, but this girl did it with the mole on the neck of one of the coaches, because at first glance it seemed to be carcinogenic. Nadia Popovici is a 22-year-old medical student who attended a hockey game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Seattle Kraken on October 23.

Hockey technical assistant is warned by a fan about a mole

During the match, Nadia noticed an evil-looking mole on coach Brian Hamilton’s neck, so she put aside the show and did her best to get the assistant coach’s attention.

Brian was watching the game on the substitutes bench and as he got up, he saw a girl waving from the front row to get his attention. When he turned around, he saw that the spectator was showing him a message that she had written on her cell phone:

Excuse me, but the mole on your neck may be cancerous. Please go to the doctor!

After reading the girl’s message, Brian was shocked, he just shrugged his shoulders and continued with the game. However, once he returned to Vancouver, the technical assistant decided to go for a dermatologist check-up.

After an examination, the results confirmed the girl’s theory: there were cancer cells in the mole, so it was removed immediately. Fortunately, the cancer was only in the mole, in the upper layer of the skin, and because it was detected early, it failed to spread.

Brian took on the task of looking for the girl, which he describes as his heroine, so on January 1, 2022, he published a letter of thanks to the girl through the official account of Vancouver Canucks on Twitter, asking for help finding her. After a few hours, Nadia’s mother responded to the publication, starting to organize a meeting.

The message you showed me on your cell phone will forever be etched in my brain and has made a real life changing difference for me and my family. Thanks to his persistence and the quick work of our doctors, he is now gone.

Following the post, Nadia and Brian met again at the Canucks’ first NHL game, where Brian gave her an emotional hug accompanied by words of thanks for saving her life.

I understand that I am part of the story, but she needs to know that she is the story. She is the person who did this. She saved my life… She needs to know that her efforts were valid and successful.

As a way of gratitude, the young woman received a $10,000 voucher from both teams to cover expenses in her Medicine degree.
