Giulia Cecchettin he would have turned 23 on this May 5th. A year ago she celebrated with her father in Padua, today her father and sister remember her. Giulia Cecchettin was killed before reaching this birthday, before graduating. Her ex-boyfriend Filippo Turetta killed her on November 11, 2023.

Gino Cecchettin, Giulia's father, spoke at Corriere della Sera. «It's tough, it's tough every single day when I get up and see Giulia's room empty. I see the photos of her hanging on her wall together with her cheerful comics, her clothes on her chair, how she had left them and the many memories that I keep in my heart.”

Giulia's memory is also in the book written by her father, Dear Giuliaand on its social pages. He published a comic on Facebook. «A girl sent it to me telling me that Giulia had inspired it, I got excited and thought: “Look, Giulia, what you're up to..” One of the many beautiful things she's doing from up there».

Uncle Andrea Camerotto also dedicated a post on social media to his niece. «Little Star, I realized that you were a gift. You gave us smiles, goodness, altruism, intelligence and delicacy and much more… Hello, say hello to your mother.”

Elena Cecchettin instead chose English and a story on Instagram to remember her sister. These are the words accompanied by a photo of them together. «I never thought of growing up without you. I never planned on not seeing you grow up. I never planned to celebrate your birthday without you. I miss you so much”.

Meanwhile, the closure of the investigation into Giulia's femicide is approaching, with the probable request for indictment for Filippo Turetta, who has been in prison in Verona since November on the hypothesis of the crime of voluntary homicide. The Venice Public Prosecutor's Office could submit the request to the investigating judge as early as June. The process could open at the beginning of autumn, between September and October.
