“In reality it is the opposite, because this attitude helps me to feel less ill and to protect and fortify myself”.

How long did it take to reach this detachment?
“A lot’. Anyone who knows me knows that behind the Giulia power with a ready joke and noisy laugh there is a girl who has known suffering and disappointment, a girl who has never been given anything and that every goal she has achieved ‘is earned by his own strength. I received many no and many doors in my face but, fortunately, also many yeses, and beautiful noisy ».

A determined girl, too?
«Determination is one of my main characteristics: when I moved to Milan alone at the age of 20, I learned to support myself and learn from the little things, do a lot of apprenticeship. My life has always been a constant struggle between ups and downs, but the ending has always been positive. Even apparently negative things, for one reason or another, got stuck in the big picture and turned out to be good for me. “

She certainly keeps busy on many fronts today: what did she want to become as a child?
“Either a policewoman like my father, because I have a great sense of justice, or a psychologist, because I love to listen and analyze, try to be helpful, try to give advice to those in need. Over time, however, I realized that I was too sensitive for psychology: I would have absorbed the problems of others and I would have been hurt. For the rest, I have not denied myself anything: I studied dance, skating, wading Miss Italia on TV, imitating the showgirls: I have always been fascinated by the conductors. I have always felt that I have this vocation and, when I arrived in Milan, I tried to put myself to the test and to learn the trade slowly by showing what my qualities are. I hope that all the experiences I’ve had will help me realize one of my biggest dreams, that of becoming an authoritative presenter ».

Would anything change what he did?
“It would be too easy to change something. There is no time machine but, paradoxically, I can say that all my mistakes have made me the badass woman I am today. Over time I have learned not to run away from problems, but to face them, committing myself to improve and bring out the best part of me. All in all I don’t consider myself so bad today ».

He used to tell me before psychology: get out of the house and find yourself in a world in lockdown, what was it like?
«I went from one confinement to another, but I don’t feel like complaining: I adapt, like everyone else, to this situation, hoping that it can heal as soon as possible. In the meantime, in compliance with the rules and protocols, I try to work. There are many people who are suffering, who have lost their jobs or a loved one and that is why I feel I want to give a hand in the concrete: for my birthday I have chosen to contribute to a fundraiser that, in just 5 hours, it has reached more than 10 thousand euros. I would like to convert my following into something positive, contribute, as far as I can, to do something socially useful ».

The project she decided to marry, “Words of Lulu”, is linked to childhood. Why did you choose it?
“The story of Shirin, who is Persian like me, and the loss of her daughter whom she tried to transform into an act of love for others struck me a lot: I am very sensitive to the subject of children, I think that each of them has the right to have a happy and carefree childhood, with people who can love them. I’m not turning the world upside down, but if we all gave a little help we would really do something big ».

What do you remember from your childhood?
“Being of Iranian descent, I was bullied in elementary and middle school: I was the ‘different’ girl, ugly, with the unibrow and round Harry Potter glasses. I experienced diversity and exclusion, feeling wrong, and certain events in my life, such as my parents’ separation, did not help. To date I have risen to fill my complexes, I think that talking about it could help so that other girls do not suffer what I have suffered. We should have a little more humanity and less judgments and prejudices towards our neighbor: words hurt more than deeds and gestures ».

“Like a girl who is becoming a little woman. After 28 years I can finally wake up in the morning with a smile and think about all the beautiful things that surround me, including the love that I was deprived of as a child: having a boy close to me who gives me so much strength and determination, which is the my number one fan as I am of him, encourages me to do better, to live life with greater serenity. It is a beautiful time because I am at peace with my dad, his wife and my little sister; mom I keep an eye onIsola and close I have Pierpaolo and friends, who are few but really good. As you said before, words hurt more than punches: how do you live the criticism with Pierpaolo Pretelli?
«In the past I suffered a lot, but today I learned to let bad things slip and focus on love, which is a lot. I have an army of people of all ages who love me, understand me and accept me for who I am. As I wrote on Instagram, I learned to fly high, and it’s a wonderful feeling ».

Does flying high also mean talking about the future with Pierpaolo?
«We decided to use the word ‘we’, to try to build something like a couple who are a team, who support each other and who want to commit to a lasting relationship. I don’t want to get out of balance, but I have never really met a guy like him, who understands me like him: he is half the apple, and it is normal that there is the will to think about a future together ».
