“Gladiator 2”: Paul Mescal fights in the arena in new photo released; see

A new photo of Paul Mescal in “Gladiator 2” was released this Thursday (12). In the video, he appears fighting in an arena. The Irish actor plays Lucius, the protagonist of the plot.

“Honor is not given. It is fought for,” wrote the film’s official profile on social media.

The title is set 25 years after the events of “Gladiator” (2000), in which Maximus (Russell Crowe), a powerful Roman general, arouses the wrath of Marcus Aurelius’ (Richard Harris) son, Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), before the emperor’s death. When the heir takes power, he is sentenced to death, however, he manages to escape and goes into hiding as a slave and gladiator while seeking revenge.

The new plot centers on Lucius, son of Lucilla and nephew of Commodus, who was inspired by Maximus. In the first film, the character is a child, played by Spencer Treat Clark. Now, Paul Mescal (“Normal People” and “After”) brings the protagonist to life.

When he was still young, Lucilla sent him to the northern coast of Africa, to a region called Numidia which was – at that time – beyond the reach of the Roman Empire. When he was older, he He lives a relatively peaceful life with his wife and children until the conquerors of his homeland invade his new home, led by a general trained by Maximus.

Names like Peter Pascal (“The Last of Us” and “The Mandalorian”), Denzel Washington (“Time of Glory” and “Training Day”), Connie Nielsen (“Gladiator” and “Devil’s Advocate”) and Joseph Quinn (“Stranger Things” and “Game of Thrones”) also make up the film’s cast. “Gladiator 2” hits Brazilian cinemas on November 14th.
