Glen Powell denies he will replace Tom Cruise in “Mission: Impossible”

The actor Glen Powell 36, denied rumors that he would replace Tom Cruise in “Mission: Impossible “. During a brief appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, on Tuesday (12), the “Twisters” star refuted the claim that he would be the next protagonist of the franchise.

Host Pat McAfee called Powell during his show and read aloud a post on X (formerly Twitter) by journalist and film critic Jeffrey Sneider, which said: “Tom Cruise reportedly wants Glen Powell to replace him and lead the franchise ‘Mission: Impossible’ in possible future episodes.”

Immediately, the actor denied it and jokingly stated: “My mother would never let me do that.” He was referring to the dangerous stunts Cruise performs in action films. “This is a death trap,” he added.

Cruise and Powell have worked together in the past, starring in the 2022 production “Top Gun: Maverick”. The duo is expected to appear again on screen with a sequel to the film, confirmed by producer Jerry Bruckheimer earlier this year.

Powell is currently recording his next project, “The Running Man” (or “The Survivor”, in Portuguese) directed by Edgar Wright. The production is a remake of the 1987 action film, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
