Food aid for Sudanese refugees in four neighboring countries can end within the next two months if no new funding is urgently provided, a World Food Program official (WFP) said today, warning that malnutrition levels are increasing. More than 4 million refugees have left Sudan to escape the two -year civil war and have fled to seven neighboring countries, where their hosting structures are generally considered inadequate due to chronic lack of funding. “If no new funding is guaranteed, all refugees will be faced with cuts in help in the coming months,” said WFP’s emergency coordinator for Sudan’s regional crisis in a press conference in Geneva, demanding $ 200 million. “In the case of four countries – centrifugal democracy, Egypt, Ethiopia and Libya – the activities of WFP are now underdened so much that all support can cease the next few months as resources are exhausted,” he said, later clarifying.
