Gloria Maria wins four -episode documentary series on TV

The journalist Gloria Maria , considered one of the most iconic figures of national television, won a unpublished documentary series of four episodes. The production premiered on Sunday (20), at Fantástico, TV Globo.

The series, directed by Paulo Sampaio, explores the career and life of the reporter who revolutionized Brazilian journalism, presents rare images, archive videos and testimonials of friends and colleagues, such as Pedro Bial, Leilane Neubarth, Mano Brown, Emicida, Maria Bethânia and Roberto Carlos.

According to the station, Gloria Maria is portrayed as a brave and restless woman, marked by a career full of historical coverage and impactful reports, such as her visit to Nigeria and the confrontation of racism, which led her to publicly report in 1980 an episode of discrimination in a hotel.

Production also focuses on your personal life, with intimate reports and exciting moments with daughters. In addition, the series highlights its legacy, especially for black journalists, with testimonials from communicators as Maju Coutinho .

Pioneering

She was the first reporter to get in and in color, in Jornal Nacional, when in 1977 showed the movement of cars on a weekend in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. In addition, Gloria Maria also made the first HD broadcast of Brazilian television, in a Fantástico report in 2007.

The journalist died in February 2023 in Rio de Janeiro for complications of brain cancer.
