GM told its customers that it was shutting down the Marketplace app, which allowed drivers to pay for goods and services through their infotainment system. The app, which launched in 2017, made it possible to buy petrol and coffee, and make hotel and restaurant reservations using a touchscreen display on the front of a car. Despite the fact that the application is installed on millions of cars, it has not become as popular as the automaker hoped.
“We regularly evaluate our services to make sure they provide the best experience for our customers,” GM told car owners via email. “In that spirit, we have decided to discontinue our Marketplace services.”
Marketplace will stop working starting March.
