GM to add heated and ventilated seats to currently sold vehicles in mid-2022

General Motors (GM) ended this week with a pledge to add heated and ventilated seats to vehicles sold without these features recently due to a global shortage of semiconductor products. The restocking of vehicles will begin in mid-2022.

The largest American automaker said it would cover the related costs. The microcircuits, the lack of which prevented the timely installation of the above subsystems, are expected to appear in sufficient quantities at the end of the second quarter of 2022.

An acute chip shortage over the past year has forced GM and other automakers to cut car production. In some cases, companies have decided to build vehicles without specific features.

GM told its US dealers last week that it will temporarily supply some models without heated and ventilated seats. The letter said that the discount on such configuration options will be $ 50. The non-heated steering wheel options will not be upgradeable, so these vehicles will be on sale at a $ 150 discount.

Other features that have been temporarily removed from some GM vehicles due to chip shortages and have not yet been restored include digital climate control temperature displays, side-blind-spot warning features, and Super Cruise driver assistance.
