“Godzilla Minus One” made history by becoming the first film in the franchise, which has existed for more than 70 years, to be nominated and win an Oscar — in the Best Visual Effects category at the 2024 awards.
Released in December 2023 and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the Japanese film was the first non-English film to win a statuette in the category.

Along seven decades the franchise already adds more than 40 films in its universe, all Japanese productions.
