Gol will convert up to 12 of its model passenger aircraft Boeing 737-800 for freighters for the exclusive use of the e-commerce company Mercado Livre, the companies announced this Tuesday (19).
Under the agreement, three aircraft will begin operating within the partnership in June. Another three will enter the business in 2023. Mercado Livre will have the option to involve another six Gol jets by 2025.
On Gol’s side, the agreement is expected to bring the company savings of R$25 million in 2022 and R$75 million in 2023, explained the airline’s chief executive, Paulo Kakinoff.
The savings will come with values ​​that will no longer be paid for the return of aircraft, which will no longer happen.
In addition, the company predicts that its logistics arm, Gollog, will have additional revenue of R$100 million in 2022 and R$1 billion over five years.
Mercado Livre expects to increase its volume of parcels transported by air from 10 million to 40 million per year in Brazil.
