United States President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday (20) details of the plan for the creation of an antimysis defense system called the “golden dome.”
According to the president, the project should cost up to $ 175 billion, will protect the US from foreign attacks and should be completed before the end of its term.
“We will end in three years,” Trump told reporters by detailing the plan in the Oval Hall. “Once fully built, the golden dome will be able to intercept missiles even if they are released from other corners of the world.”
Defense contractors and high -level technology companies – including Elon Musk’s Spacex – are already vying for the construction of the shield, making proposals directly to the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth.
How the system will operate
Initially commissioned by Trump in January, the golden dome proposes to create a network of satellites to detect, track and potentially intercept missiles.
The shield could implement hundreds of satellites for projectile detection and tracking.
Due to the high cost, it may take years to be implemented, as the program faces both political questions and financing uncertainty.
