In 2009, the THQ company created a luxurious 24-carat gold-plated Nintendo Wii as part of its publicity campaign for the then game. Big Family Games. The idea was to give it to Queen Elizabeth II, but due to security protocols at Buckingham Palace, the console could never be delivered.

Sadly, three years later, THQ went bankrupt and the expensive console was never talked about again. However, in 2017, the gold Nintendo Wii was acquired by collector Donny Fillerup, who decided to put it up for sale on eBay a year ago.

In 2021, the auction topped $300,000, but due to over 700 bids and an account issue, the sale had to be cancelled.

Although the console could be acquired for a lower cost than the market, nobody has been really interested in acquiring it. However, the seller does not lose hope and hopes that the Nintendo Wii will soon have a new owner, because with the money obtained, he would buy a house.
