THE Gold elected to Empress Leopoldinense like the Best Carnival School this year . The traditional award, organized by the newspapers O Globo and Extra, also awarded the association in the battery and plot.
In this edition, the 14ths of the Golden Banner pointed out a finalist per day of the special group, which in all, there are 12 samba schools. The chosen Sunday (Empress), Monday (Salgueiro) and Tuesday (Grande Rio) were announced at the end of each parade night.
In the jury’s evaluation, the Empress was the school that presented itself more completely, with an exciting parade and, at the same time, easy to understand on the avenue. The association also won the Best plot which according to the judges’ team, made the parade visually understandable from beginning to end.
Already the battery under the command of Mestre Lolo, took the golden banner for the first time in over fifty years of the award.
The association had as a plot “omi tutu to the Olúfon – fresh water for the Lord of Ifón.” After almost 50 years, the school-also known as Queen of Ramos-addresses the Afro-religious theme linked to the mythology of the Orixás.
Last year, the awards elected Portela as the best carnival school of 2024, at the time, the Golden Banner also recognized Empress Leopoldinense in five questions, as best samba-plot, best wing (dreaming of roses) and master-room (Phelipe Lemos).
