Goodbye Exynos 999. Samsung is discontinuing the Galaxy S20 FE based on this platform

According to informed sources, the South Korean company Samsung is discontinuing production of the Galaxy S20 FE smartphone based on the Exynos 990 single-chip system.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S20 FE back in September 2020 as its second Fan Edition smartphone, which also includes the 2017 Galaxy Note FE model. This phone has been released in both 4G and 5G versions. The first version is based on the Exynos 990 SoC, and the second is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

The Galaxy S20 FE was one of the company’s top-selling smartphones released in 2020. But those rave reviews were for the 5G variant with the Snapdragon 865.The 4G version was criticized by both the media and users for its short battery life and poor performance.

The company recently launched the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in India. In addition, the South Korean tech giant, as previously reported, is working on a new 4G version that will receive the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 instead of the Exynos 990.

At the same time, other sources claim that the new Galaxy S20 FE (SM-G780G) will not receive the Snapdragon 865, but an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865+.

The new version of the Galaxy S20 FE has already been posted on several regional Samsung sites, so the smartphone will be on sale soon.
