Goodbye «Swipe Up» on Instagram: it will be replaced by a sticker

Forget it «Swipe Up» on Instagram: from 30 August the possibility of accessing content from sites external to the social network by swiping the finger from the bottom up with a special arrow in the Stories, will be replaced by a simple adhesive.

The novelty was announced months ago with some tests done with selected users and now it arrives official confirmation from Instagram, which has just begun to communicate the news.

A detail? Not really: the new sticker dedicated to external links was created to expand communication methods, not only because it will be customizable and therefore will give a different look to the Stories, but also because, just like all normal stickers, will allow users to respond directly to the content and thus multiply interactions. Here’s a preview of its appearance unveiled by The Verge

As well as the Swipe Up, the new sticker will be used to access in-depth contents of the Stories oa shop online and will continue to be available exclusively for business profiles or very popular ones: there are no official figures yet, but we are talking about users with over 10 thousand followers.

We are still discussing a possible expansion of the audience, but it is a dedicated point because allowing everyone to share content of all kinds could increase the risk of spreading fake news and spam, a particularly hot topic in times of pandemics (and therefore also of vaccines).
