The acquisition of cybersecurity company Mandiant Inc. for $ 5.4 billion in cash was announced on Tuesday by Google, a subsidiary of technology giant Alphabet, as its cloud-based business launches.
The offer of $ 23 per share of Google indicates a premium of about 53% against the share price of Mandian before the news that Microsoft Corp is looking forward to a deal to acquire the company.
The deal could boost Google’s cloud computing business, which generates more than $ 19 billion a year, and help it compete with Microsoft Corp.’s biggest competitor.
Mandiant focuses on cyber threat and security testing.
