Google first introduced an update to Google Play for Android and Wear OS. With this update, the public has a first look at YouTube Music for smartwatches.
The Google Play store on your phone now displays filters for Clock and Watch Faces to find apps that can then be remotely installed on your watch.
If you search for “YouTube Music” on Google Play and select the Wear OS filter, the app will appear in the results. However, the list does not include additional information (for example, screenshots) for the “hour” version and cannot be installed. Searching directly on the watch does not show YouTube Music among the search results.
YouTube Music for Wear OS is officially slated for release “later this year.” Note that the YouTube Music application became available for Apple smartwatches in October 2020, however, it is in no hurry with a similar release for the Google branded platform.
