Google said Thursday it has stopped selling online ads in Russia. This prohibition applies to the Google search engine, YouTube and external publishing partners. Twitter and Snap have taken similar action in the past.
Now Russian users will not see ads, and content authors will not receive money for views. Content creators, including those from Russia, will continue to receive money for views from other countries.
Due to extraordinary circumstances, we are suspending the sale of advertising in Russia. The situation is evolving rapidly and we will continue to share updates as needed.

Google previously banned Russian state media from buying or selling ads using its technology. Russian communications regulator Roskomnadzor on Monday ordered Google to stop running ads containing false information about casualties suffered by the Russian military and Ukrainian civilians.
On Thursday, the regulator ordered Google to stop running ads on YouTube with “false political information” about Ukraine that aims to “disinform Russian audiences” about current events.
Google last year paid more than 32 million rubles in fines in Russia.
