The Protect technology built into Yandex Browser has been protecting users from dangerous sites, files, interception of passwords and bank card data for several years. Yandex recently restricted the operation of third-party cookies in Incognito mode. Now the protection extends to the entire browser: sites that you have not visited will not be able to collect your data.

The developers gave an example based on a real feedback on a social network:
The user visits a website for the sale of apartments in a new building. Doesn’t leave any data on it. But soon the sales manager calls on his personal phone number. How did he find it? The reason is that once the user has already left a phone number on another site. Perhaps in an ordinary online store that has nothing to do with new buildings. But both of these sites had the same third party tracker installed. This tracker intercepted the phone number on the store’s website and then sold it to the owners of the new building.
Now, when you enter a website with trackers through Yandex Browser, a shield icon with the number of filtered trackers will appear in the address bar. If you click on it, you can see a list of trackers and choose which ones to allow or deny. This allows you to independently choose which resources to trust your data.

The world’s most popular browser, Google Chrome, has not yet implemented such a feature. It is implemented in Safari and Firefox, but these browsers restrict all third-party trackers. Yandex Browser provides a “control panel” to the user.
Restricting the operation of third-party trackers is already available to users of Yandex Browser for PCs after a restart. Protection also works for Android smartphones starting from version 20.12.3. On iPhone, protection against third-party trackers in Yandex Browser has been working since the release of iOS 14.
