Google began blocking the popular The Great Suspender extension from working in the Chrome browser, and has also removed it from the Chrome Web Store. Extension users have received a notification that The Great Suspender contains malware.
The Great Suspender extension allowed to “suspend” inactive Chrome tabs, with which the user has not been working for a while, replacing them with a blank gray screen. Everyone knows that Chrome is resource intensive, which is why the extension has become extremely popular in a relatively short time.

This open source extension was sold late last year to an unknown company that added an exploit that allows you to execute any code without your knowledge. Because of this, the extension has already been removed from the Microsoft Edge browser, but until now it was available in Chrome.
So far, neither Google nor the new owner of The Great Suspender have released any statements regarding the incident.
