The upcoming Android flagships Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been officially announced a few months before the launch. Google has decided to preliminarily talk about the use of a completely new processor and design concept, which will be radically different from its predecessor. As expected, the main feature of smartphones will be a self-developed single-chip system.
Google’s first mobile platform was named Tensor SoC. The chipset leverages Tensor Coprocessor (TPU) AI technologies to efficiently handle machine learning-related operations (computational photography, offline text-to-speech, etc.), and also includes the enhanced Titan M2 security module. The tech giant promises that the Titan M2 will provide “the maximum number of levels of hardware security available on any other smartphone.”
The bodies of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are made of glass and aluminum, with a matte finish in the standard model and a polished finish in the advanced model. The screen diagonals will be 6.4 inches (90 Hz) in the Pixel 6 and 6.7 inches (120 Hz) in the Pixel 6 Pro. The camera modules will be updated: the sensors will be placed in a beautiful glass panel instead of a square block, as in the Pixel 5. The Pixel 6 Pro will have an additional telephoto lens with a 4x zoom.
The full announcement of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will take place in the fall of 2021. They will be preinstalled with the Android 12 operating system with a redesigned Material You interface and in-depth personalization for the user.
